Cree Nation Government Launches the Cree Nation Business Registry and Opportunities Platform
Nemaska, Eeyou Istchee (July 14, 2025)
The Cree Nation Government is proud to announce the launch of the Cree Nation Business Registry and Opportunities Platform, a transformative initiative to support Cree businesses’ growth and enhance economic development opportunities across the territory.
This platform is designed to centralize information on Cree community-based businesses, making it easier for enterprises to connect with opportunities, and ensuring that Cree businesses have priority access to procurement, investment, and employment prospects within the region. The registry will be crucial in fostering economic independence and strengthening the Cree Nation’s business landscape.
“The Cree Nation Business Registry reflects our commitment to building a united and thriving economy for Eeyou Istchee. By supporting our local businesses, we are creating jobs and ensuring that economic benefits remain within our communities.”
-
Anthony MacLeod, Director of Commerce and Industry of the Cree Nation Government.
Key Features of the Platform:
- Cree Business Certification: Enterprises that meet the criteria set under the Cree Nation Economic Prioritization Agreement will be certified as Cree Community-based Enterprises. This certification will allow businesses to participate in competitive tendering processes, obtain a margin of preference in such tendering processes and prioritize local resources for contracts and opportunities.
- Economic Prioritization: The platform is aligned with the Cree Nation Economic Prioritization Agreement, ensuring that Cree community-based businesses are given preference in procurement and employment opportunities.
- Capacity Building and Mobility: By promoting the mobility of Cree workers across various jurisdictions, the registry opens doors for Cree entrepreneurs to explore and seize opportunities within and beyond Eeyou Istchee.
- Transparent and Accessible Information: The registry will be maintained by the Department of Commerce and Industry of the Cree Nation Government and will be publicly accessible, allowing businesses to showcase their services and connect with potential clients and partners.
